FOOD AND HEALTH MAIN POINTS

FOOD:

MARIA MUÑOZ
  • Child malnutrition might end in infections and in some cases can lead to death. That’s why we should prevent this disease
  • It is really easy and cheap to end with child malnutrition, we have capacity to end with hunger. We should start to involve this issue to the population,to conscious them it is a simple and effective way to change reality
  • The main The main causes of dead (heart, heart and cancer) have to do with feeding. That’s why having a balanced diet it’s really useful and important

Enrique Martín Fernández

  • Nowadays we are not following one of the most important rights of children which is the right of alimentation and reach in the best conditions to the adulthood.
  • The feeding greatly affects to our quality of life, as for example in African countries people died from malnutrition. In developed countries they die of head, heart and cancer, as the heart dies from cholesterol for example.
  • The food must have a high standard quality; it needs to be hygienic, nutritional, sensory, functional, environmental, culinary, dietary quality.

Berta Nieto Romero
  • It’s necessary to reach an equilibrium between the amount of people and food in an specific area, as the disease of malnutrition is affecting a big global population.
  • For any food to be edible, it has to follow some procedures; as high hygiene, nutrients factors...
  • Malnutrition is passed down to descendents and its a severe illness, society has collaborate to put an end to this

Mónica López Muñoz
  • The world society should know the world problems that exist nowadays and the way in which we could help to the reason. Malnutrition is one of the problems we can find now and that with simple and not very expensive methods is possible to fight. People must be conscious because this type of problems are already so quotidian that they neither impress us and don't even move us to look for solutions.

  • Providing drinkable water and sanitation to those communities that are away from civilization will reduce a 45% the risk of suffering any kind of disease. We could achieve this by using new technologies and transport.

  • In the majority of developed countries there are huge amounts of food that are  produced but not consumed so sending quickly this food excess to those underdeveloped countries without resources would improve the situation of poverty since at least they will have where to eat from.

Carolina Navarro:

  • Only a 40% of the world´s children are fed during the first 6 months of life from breastfed. And it is very important to breastfed becuase the mother´s milk contains lots of nutrients and carbohydrate essential for the development of children.
  • Malnutrition affects both physics and mental development of children. If they grow with mental problems they will no achieve too much challenges in their future, in my opinion this is one of the most serious problem to solve.
  • There are enough tools in order to solve poverty, however, it lacks goodwill. In order to solve all the problems there are in the world in nutrition it is important to have an effort from the society.

HEALTH

María Muñoz
  • Young people usually take drugs to avoid from their problems and to move away from the parents control.
  • Rare diseases affects approximately to 5 or less than 5 people every 10000. 75% of this people at least once have felt discriminated because of their disease. In our country, this type of disease affects more than 3 million people, and in our city nearly 700000
  • The key is on increasing the information about these diseases. Also, promoting the investigation, just as much as technological, biological and social.
Enrique Martín Fernández
  • We are facing with drugs to disease of the 21st century for young people.
  • A rare disease is one that affects five or fewer than five people in a 10,000. An orphan drug is dedicated for those diseases.
  • The main challenge is that a patient does not die on the waiting list. And reach to a point in which all of us were donors to help all those who need it.
Berta Nieto Romero
  • Drugs are a big deal around kids nowadays, they don’t know their complete repercussions and consequences.
  • Young people consume drugs to avoid facing problems due to stress.
  • Increasing the information and publicity of this rare diseases, will help for the patients to fit better in society
Mónica López Muñoz
  • Young people should be aware of the use they make of drugs since they are very susceptible to their consumption as these change their way of thinking, of relating with others and the way in which they deal with certain situations as drugs limit their liberty.
  • Raise awareness of how the human body can help so many people and even saving their lives. Inform people since they have lack of information.
  • How to help to the transplantation of organs process yet being donor or accelerating these processes since the principal challenges regarding to the donation of organs are that people in the waiting-list do not die and that everyone, not mattering their cultural and economic level, has access to transplant.
Carolina Navarro:

  • A rare disease is one that affects 5 out of every 1000 people. In addition, sometimes niether doctors knows what type of disease the patient is suffering. Other times, they know what disease the patient is suffering but they don´t have enought resources to cure it.
  • A person who becomes an organ donor will give 56 years of life to others. An organ can be donate, only if the person dies in the hospital.
  • Our aim: try to keep any death on waiting lists and to have an universal access to transplantation.

FOOD REVIEW

As we all know, food is essential for every single organism in the world, as it provides enough nutrients and vitamins to keep our system alive and active, and it also help us carry our daily life activities. But what happens when the amount of food you ingest isn't enough? Well,  Malnutrition happens, this severe disease is affecting in a terrifying scale citizens of third world countries and even developed ones and can even lead to death. So all members of 'FUTURE MINDS CLUB' agreed that this topic was one we should defenitely look into. Comparing global data and reading some ong's programmes we discovered that ending this disease is not as difficult as we thought is would be, it is in fact, rather cheap.

But of course there's always the problem of foundraisers that don't have enough money or food to finish this situation. According to some studies, if every single working person in spain donated 2 euros a week, there would be enough water an entire country. So, why don't we collaborate? It is a true fact that people have become reluctant when it comes to donate money, our group personally thinks it's because, people in well-developed countries think this type of problems are too far away to be ''true'' or to have an impact in their society. But have a look around you, there is always someone you could help, and this is what this group is trying to do. We want to make people aware of what the problem is and how to figh against it. Would you join and participate?

HEALTH REVIEW

Drugs, we all know what are they and some of their effects once we consume them. We also know their harmful consequences, so why young people are fancy to take drugs in the 21st century? Usually young people are fancy to take drugs due to the fact that these can change their way of thinking, making them deal with different certain situations and avoiding problems. This might sound great, but the problem is that drugs really have a detrimental effect in a person life, and not everybody is conscious about this issue. Once we start taking drugs we think we can control the situation, but the thing is that lately, drugs will control us. Providing more information in high schools will eventually make them start thinking if it worth it.
What about rare diseases? This type of diseases do not affect a high percentage of the global population. Rare diseases affects only 5 or less people every 10000. In our country, Spain, 3 million people are affected by this disorder. There are some medicines which are called “Orphan drug” is especially dedicated to the treatment of these diseases. Socially speaking, people affected with this kind diseases, in a 75% of the cases have felt discriminated, we can’t avoid them not to have the defect, but we can avoid making the feel different. We should change this social issue raising awareness of those who are free of diseases through education. We are all the same, so what can we do for them?

Organ Transplants are promoted all over the world, we all know the benefits it have, but we really knew we can help approximately 400 people on their life? This fact really show the importance it have for the community to transplant organs. Only a 3% of the population can donate their organs, and the aim of it are that people in the waiting-list do not die, and that everyone, not mattering their cultural and economic level, has access to transplant. Day by day, people have a better lifestyle, so this is really beneficial for the future, in which we could finally help loads of people to have a better life. What are you waiting?

EVALUATION GROUP I

Energy:
We believe they show the information very effectively since it is explained with detail and well organised. They give specific data (above all numeric data which is more eye-cacthing, easier to notice) so we realise the huge quantity of money and energy we consume nowadays. The information is divided in four paragraphs: how do we use energy, what is the role of the government in the energetic market, new ideas of the group itself and the final conclusion. This makes more clear the take-in of the information but maybe it would have been better if the information in some points was more schematic so it is even easier to understand.

Environment:
Likewise, they organise the information by answering different questions, that question the general issues about the actual situation of our environment and how we can help to the cause. They follow a clear structure, they introduce the problem by explaining it, then they name the solutions that are actually given, they talk about them and then reach a final conclusion about the ideas received in the panel and finish by giving three clear ideas that give solutions to the problem previously explained.

Education:
They do not explain the main issues but on the other hand they offer ideas that clearly explain how technologies could help to found a new educational system that make students be more motivated, rising their intrinsic motivation.

Blog:
Overall, the blog is really good estructured but they could put some images, tables or graphs so it isn't so dense and hard to read. Including visual information.

ENERGY REVIEW

From the moment we started discussing what key points were the essentials for the ENERGY topic, we found out that our individual information was pretty much the same. We all agreed that people nowadays aren't aware of what repercussions our irresponsible and excessive behaviour is having on our planet; as the law of conservation of energy says, ''energy cannot be nor detroyed or created just transformed'', with this meaning that energy is a limited source and what we are doing with it, how and for what purpose we are using it is not the best way to do it. Another main point we all found interesting was how this energy transformed into electronical devices is having an impact on society. Now more than ever our global population is considered to be 'electro-dependent'.
People have replaced activities that were once made by men to activities carried out by machines and electronic devices, but the question is, are going off limits with energy? Of course each person has a different view to this question, but we all know that if we dont change our way of acting there is going to be some sort of environmental drastic repercussion. The third and final point we chose was more about how people love energy and its transformations but they don't want an energy storage centre near their houses. The thing about this is that the closer the station is to urban areas where tons of energy is used, the less energy will be loss (only a 7 percent) but how can we make people change their point of view?. We found this specific point really interesting because it wasn't all about energy itself but also of how society is still clueless on what we are doing.

ENVIRONMENT REVIEW

  • Old generations have spent nearly a whole century destroying the sources that keep this world alive such as trees, water… and it’s our turn to commend this mistakes and make the world a better place. This is indispensable as we are the future and we need to take care of our planet, because is where we live and where our ancestors are going to live so we need to look forward and not be selfish with the natural sources that our planet subsidize us.
  • In spain, the renewable energy sector has been transformed in one great business opportunity for a huge amount of people. This is important to be shared with all of the countries as the renewable energies are essential to maintain our planet that know a days is in the only one that we can live in.
  • Countries with growing demography such as India, China, the United States and most European countries are the main emitters of CO2, the main cause of climate change. We should look for alternatives to those industries that produce excessive amounts of CO2 and prevent that the natural resources we have today which positively transform the CO2 end up disappearing as forests that transform the CO2 from the atmosphere into wood. This is vital as CO2 is really harmful to the atmosphere so we need to prevent this gas to go into it.

EDUCATION REVIEW

Once we had expanded our points about education, we, as a group, ended to the conclusión that motivation in education is the one of the main points that should be improved in schools. Education centers should start thinking about encouraging students instead of making them study just for a mark. Developing several abilities such as critical thinking, group work, entrepreneurship and autonomy will make the student itself someone who wants to expand their horizons in the future. Another point we thought was really important and essential in the development of education was techonology. To use or not to use the new techonologies in schools. This topic has really made controversy within the members of the educational community. The correct thing is using the new technologies as a tool for students to know what’s happening around the world, making them much more open minded for the future they will have to deal with the future. The main problem of techonologies is the incorrect use of it, this may end up with distraction and deteriorating the received education. Any improvement within techonology or motivation in education centers will create a positive impact in education, but also, the importance of how the syllabus will be distributed is an issue really important when we talk about education. Teachers should select the essential topics that will be expanded during the course, for the students to focus more on what they should.

INDIVIDUAL IDEAS

EDUCATION:

  • Carolina Navarro:

  1. The main idea of education is motivation. Our goal is to make everyone to love what they are doing, in this way they will always try their best.
  2. Problem: Teachers don´t adapt to the quick develop of the technology in education. Our objective is to help them.
  3. In order to eliminates antique things, we need to create new ones. Therefore we need to be conscience of the problems we need to solve.

  • Berta Nieto:

  1. To make the students love what they are learning and show interest the key is motivation and entertainment. A motivated student will tend to try as hard as he possibly can
  2. The technological devices have to be held in a responsible way and have to adapt to the students
  3. the teachers have to adapt as fast as they can to this changes.

  • María Muñoz:

  1. There’s not enough motivation in education. Saying that you will gain a reward if you study and if you don’t you won’t gain anything, is not a good way of encouraging students. A solution is to search motivations for students for them to work comfortable and not for a grade.
  2. There’s not enough time to adapt due to the fact that each year the syllabus changes. As a solution, teachers should select the essential topics.
  3. Technology should be adapted in education, to develop skills that will be required in the future.

  • Enrique Martín.

  1. Thanks to the technology we have a better education because we are using this technology in a responsible way.
  2. The motivation is one of the most important facts in education as if the student doesn’t have any external motivation he’s probably going to fail on his studies.
  3. It is important to implement the technology in education to show all of the skills that all students have.

  • Mónica López:
  1. Education centers may provide to the students opportunities that adapt to their necessities as well as to their interests in order to encourage the intrinsic motivation of these. The educational system of studying for passing is out-of-date since it is a dynamic that doesn't work and establishing the new technologies can increase the will of learning of the students.
  2. Being able to manage a deeper knowledge by the use of the new technologies, that is to say, that students don't study only what proposed by the educational systems but get them to know what happens around them so they can analyze several situations as taking the theoretical to the practical interacting with technology. Like this, they will develop necessary abilities as critical thinking, group work, entrepreneurship and autonomy. The application of technologies gives place to a direct relation between productivity and development.
  3. Controlled use of technologies in educational centers to avoid distraction and an incorrect use of them deteriorating the received education.

ENERGY:

  • Carolina:

  1. Law of conservation of energy: Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be transformed.
  2. Is important to have a well-organised system, which guarantee that anything is going to fail.
  3. There are 1,3 millions of people who doesn´t have yet any type of electricity. This is the main problem of energy we need to be qualify to solve.

  • Berta Nieto:

  1. Since energy cannot be created nor destroyed we have to aware that energy is found in limited quantities and we shall not abuse of it.
  2. Because nowadays energy is used and transformed into electrical and technological devices that are essential in our daily life, there’s has to be some sort of back-up plan just in case this things shut down.
  3. We have to make sure that we are as environmentally friendly as we can, using element of high-pollution as energy sources will only worsen the world’s current situation

  • María Muñoz:

  1. Energy is the main business in the world. The aim is to attempt that everyone have energy, but reducing its consumption
  2. We’re not conscious about what we are consuming. There’s a lot of people all around the world that can’t use energy, so we should start thinking about how we can make those people have the possibility of using energy.
  3. We should stop using coal as a source of energy. Coal pollutes more that we can imagine, so we should stop using it or we will end with the world. Using renewable energy is the main solution for this issue.

  • Enrique Martín

  1. It is important to change from the type of energy we have now a days as we are destroying our planet so we need to make more renewable energy.
  2. The world’s average temperature has risen up 0,8º if it reaches 1º we are going to have an environmental disaster as lots of species are going to die.
  3. Power is generated at the instant in which it is claimed, it can not be store in significant amounts of energy, so a good idea is to create energy near our houses but in a smaller amount and like that firstly the energy would not be lost during it transportation and it would be cheaper.

  • Mónica López:
  1. People living in big cities refuse the fact of having nearby where they live those huge electrical networks that actually exist but, the construction of numerous centers of power generation that are closer to the cities and much smaller, therefore more efficient (so that 7% of energy loss since energy is produced until it reaches the buildings won't be lost), will help to the storage of energy and not wasting part of it, optimizing its consumption.
  2. Energy is a key factor for the welfare of society and its economic development. 1/5 of the world's population (1,3 billion of people) haven't got the access to that necessary use of energy. Perhaps, optimizing the consumption of energy in developed countries in which energy is daily present and often wasted, could be then displaced to those countries so they can overcome underdevelopment and reach the economic development and the social welfare that the rest of global societies already have due to the use of energy. In addition, for energy to be more efficient and less harmful to our planet, energy sources that don't emit CO2 as eolic, hydraulic and solar energy would be chosen; making the most of the natural resources provided by the countries that don't own that energy.
  3. Actually, the global society could be considered electro dependent since if there is some kind of failure in the electric net we can't make use of the technologies we have. Anyway, through a new intelligent system that manages and controls our current use of energy we could get our system to be more efficient, stable and safe.

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Carolina:

  1. Climate change can affect in various fields, diets (descent of wheat), health (diseases), infrastructure (water distribution: it rains in a more intense way and breaks infrastructure)
  2. The planet is in a continuous change and the human activity could affect in the quality and behaviour of the planet.
  3. We have to become aware of what suppose having the light on all day.

  • Berta Nieto:

  1. Old generations have spent nearly a whole century destroying the sources that keep this world alive such as trees, water… and it’s our turn to commend this mistakes and make the world a better place.
  2. In all industries being environmentally friendly is a great advantage for investors to invest their money on a company, so it’s a factor to take into account
  3. Global warming is a real deal and we are not sufficiently aware of what is going on

  • María Muñoz:

  1. In spain, the renewable energy sector has been transformed in one great business opportunity for a huge amount of people.
  2. We should start thinking about our world. Stop being selfish and start changing things will be essential if we want to create a world in which we can all live equally and without environmental problems. The issue is not about what planet we leave to our children, instead of it, we should think about what kind of people we leave to the planet. If we don’t look after our planet, with difficulty, this one will take care of the human race.
  3. The world’s average temperature has risen up 0,8º and in Andalucia and mediterranean regions has risen up 1,5ª. These are facts that prove that we’re doing something wrong.

  • Enrique Martín

  1. The most important now a day is to create renewable energy but that changes don’t alter the rhythm of live that we have.
  2. The climate change not only affects to the environment, it is also something essential in the economic field.
  3. The forests are very important because they regulate the levels of CO2 stored on Earth and provide us oxygen, which is the most important for human life.

  • Mónica López:

  1. Since changing the energetic model is necessary to improve the situation of the environment (specifically climatic change), renewable energies should be fomented. Germany, the biggest industrial european power, lacks companies that work with renewable energies but on the contrary, in Spain the renewable energy sector offers business opportunities for both individuals and enterprises and this is something we, the spaniards should take advantage of with the help of new technologies. Specifically, in Andalusia we can find a high concentration of renewable energies that may solve much of the energy needs in the future.
  2. Environmental problems are global since at the end, the planet belongs to everyone and what we have to do is raise awareness to the entire world population about it. The consumption of energies is essential because if there is no consumption there is no development and if there is no development there is no employment. Nevertheless, we can't maximize this situation since if there is no consumption, unemployment starts rising. We must conclude in the moderate and responsible consumption so like this we help to take care of the environment.
  3. Countries with growing demography such as India, China, the United States and most European countries are the main emitters of CO2, the main cause of climate change. We should look for alternatives to those industries that produce excessive amounts of CO2 and prevent that the natural resources we have today which positively transform the CO2 end up disappearing as forests that transform the CO2 from the atmosphere into wood.
